This position provides para-professional administrative support to the Planning Division of the Community Development Department.
The work performed by this class follows established procedures and general directions; incumbents operate independently and apply established guidelines and alternatives to make routine judgments and decisions.
Examples of Job Duties Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Provides customer service on the telephone or in-person and responds to basic inquiries regarding city land use regulations and policies.
Provides assistance at the community development / public works front counter.
Assists in the review of development permit applications, including associated noticing and documentation requirements.
Processes minor land use permit applications, including written reports, and business license applications.
Assists planners with a variety of planning activities including field inspections.
Assists with the preparation of revisions to the Unified Development Code, Comprehensive Plan and other regulatory and policy documents, including research, collection of data, mapping/graphics and noticing requirements.
Coordinates, updates and maintains maps and other records of development activity and public information.
Creates and maintains files, records, and other documents including those maintained electronically in spreadsheets and in specialized databases; enters and retrieves information; creates reports as needed.
Coordinates special projects for the department as assigned; gathers and interprets information, conducts research, and presents findings and conclusions.
Establishes and maintains an efficient records management system for efficient storage and retrieval of files and records; purges and archives files and documents per legal retention requirements.
Provides administrative support to the Community Development Director, Planning Manager, Principal, Senior, and Associate Planners including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and minutes; coordinates preparation of presentations and handout materials; and drafts general business correspondence, notices and other documents.
Performs other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications A combination of the experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position.
Experience:
One year of business office experience.
One year of experience working in a planning related capacity.
Education and Training:
High school diploma or GED.
Additional training or college level coursework related to assigned program area preferred.
Licenses or Certificates:
Must possess, or have the ability to possess within one month of hire date, a Washington State Driver's License.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
