The nature of the work is often confidential and complex, and incumbents have significant discretion in prioritizing and performing their work.
Examples of Job Duties Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Tracks and monitors government agency certification and license requirements for department operations.
Processes a variety of administrative documents and information involving personnel matters including CDL physical appointments, drug and alcohol random testing documentation, personnel action request forms, paper timesheets and leave requests, and incident/injury report forms.
Assists with coordinating and tracking the hiring process for department Seasonal workers; assists with scheduling of hiring processes for regular permanent department positions.
Provides clerical support for department managers and supervisors.
Coordinates arrangements for meetings; reserves space, invites participants; prepares agenda for meetings; takes minutes of meetings; carries out follow-up procedures.
Maintains selected departmental filing systems and files.
Represents the department or division in responding to inquiries and requests from the public, other agencies, and internal customers and exercises discretion in handling inquiries/requests/problems of a non-routine, more complex nature.
Formulates correspondence from rough notes of a complex and confidential nature; composes and types correspondence, reports, legal documents, minutes of meetings and contracts.
Gathers, compiles, and prepares information, including statistical data, to create reports for use by city management staff and the city council.
Provides assistance to clerical and customer service staff as needed.
Assists or fills in for other personnel as required to achieve effective, efficient office operations.
Qualifications A combination of the experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position.
Experience:
Two years of business office experience.
Experience in a municipal environment preferred.
Education and Training:
High school diploma or GED.
Licenses or Certificates:
Must possess, or have the ability to possess within one month of hire date, a Washington State Driver's License.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
